What are the benefits of telehealth access?Telehealth offers numerous advantages for mental healthcare, including convenience, accessibility, flexibility, privacy, and safety. It allows you to attend your sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own home or any location within Connecticut. Telehealth eliminates geographical barriers, making it easier for individuals in remote areas or with limited mobility in Connecticut to access our services. Virtual appointments also offer more scheduling flexibility, reducing time spent commuting and fitting sessions into your busy life. Rest assured that our telehealth platform is secure and confidential, ensuring the privacy of your personal information. Additionally, during times of public health concerns or emergencies, telehealth provides a safe alternative to in-person visits, ensuring continuity of care.

Can I get psychiatric medication from the providers at Solstice Healthcare?Yes, at Solstice Healthcare, our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMNHP) are experts in medication management for mental health conditions. They can prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications to help alleviate symptoms and promote mental well-being. In addition to medication management, we also prioritize a comprehensive approach to mental health care. We match each patient with a therapist who can provide therapy and counseling services tailored to their specific needs. This combination of medication management and therapy allows for a holistic approach to treatment, addressing both biological and psychological aspects of mental health.
-
Why do we recommend therapy in addition to medication management? At Solstice Healthcare, we firmly believe in a comprehensive approach to psychiatric healthcare. Our integrated team of skilled therapists and experienced psychiatric nurse practitioners collaborates to provide you with the best possible care. Therapy allows you to explore the root causes of your concerns, develop effective coping strategies, and acquire valuable skills to navigate life's challenges. While medication may be part of the treatment plan for some patients, not everyone will require or be on medication. By combining therapy and psychiatric medication management, we offer personalized and powerful care for your overall well-being, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive healing journey.
-
What can I expect during my first therapy session?During your initial session, your therapist will focus on getting to know you better and understanding your concerns and goals. They will ask questions about your medical history, current symptoms, and any previous experiences with therapy or medication management. This session provides an opportunity for you to ask questions, discuss expectations, and begin to establish a therapeutic relationship based on trust and mutual understanding.
-
How long does therapy typically last? The duration of therapy varies depending on individual needs and goals. Therapy is required if you’re seeking medication management. Some individuals may benefit from short-term therapy to address specific concerns, while others may engage in longer-term therapy for ongoing support and personal growth. Our therapists work collaboratively with each patient to determine an appropriate treatment plan tailored to their unique situation. The duration of therapy will be discussed and decided upon together, ensuring that you receive the right level of support for as long as necessary.
-
Will the cost of my treatment be covered by my insurance plan?We accept a variety of insurances, as well as private pay via credit card, Health Savings Account (HSA), and Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Please see our insurance/private pay page for more details.

Confused about insurance terms?Navigating insurance can be confusing. Here's a breakdown of some key terms: Allowed Amount: The maximum your insurance pays for a covered service. You may be responsible for the balance. Co-Payment/Co-Insurance: Fixed amount or percentage you pay for covered services after the deductible is met. Deductible: Amount you pay before insurance starts reimbursing. Family plans may have a collective deductible. In-Network Providers: Healthcare providers contracted with your insurance company. Out-of-Network Providers: Healthcare providers not contracted with your insurance company. Out-of-Pocket Maximum: Maximum you'll spend on covered services in a policy year. Premium: Monthly amount paid to the insurance company based on your plan. Superbill: An itemized form reflecting services provided, similar to a receipt. Our team at Solstice Healthcare can help you understand insurance and assist with billing. We welcome you to contact us for any questions or concerns related to your coverage. Ensuring you receive the care you need is our priority.
-
Do you offer out-of-network or private pay services?Yes, we understand that insurance networks can be limiting. At Solstice Healthcare, we offer out-of-network services for individuals whose insurance plans do not include our practice. Our team can assist you in understanding the reimbursement process and provide you with documentation that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. For example, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) & Tricare insurance frequently offer out-of-network benefits that cover a significant portion and sometimes all of your mental health expenses. This means that even though we are not in-network with Anthem BCBS or Tricare, you can still receive quality care and be reimbursed. We strive to make the process as easy and straightforward as possible, ensuring that you can access our services while maximizing your insurance benefits.
-
Will our sessions be recorded? No, your sessions will not be recorded. We understand the importance of ensuring a private and safe space for therapy. Our telehealth platform is designed to provide live and confidential sessions without any recording or storage of the content.
-
I'm going out of state for vacation/work, can I still attend my session?Since our providers are licensed in Connecticut, our clinicians are not able to provide services to clients who are located outside of the state. If you have plans to be out of Connecticut at the time of your appointment, let us know and we will work to reschedule it with you.
